The 3rd Annual Alternative Gift Fair was held at South Church, on Sunday, December 5th from 11AM to 2:30PM. All products were fairly traded or locally made.

 

The Alternative Gift Fair is sponsored by the Outreach Associates and Green Sanctuary Team and is a fun way to bypass the stress of holiday shopping and ʻstuff accumulationʼ while honoring friends and relatives with gifts that support people and the planet. Participating merchants and not-for-profit organizations included: Blue Moon, Equal Exchange, Fa La Lo, Handcrafting Justice, Hopecraft Kenya, Rain for Sahel & Sahara, Sustainable Harvest International, and 1 World Trading Company. Shoppers had the opportunity to purchase special gift items from local merchants or to give a gift of hope, in the name of a loved one, to improve the standard of living for a family in Kenya or Central America.

 

Fair Trade Coffee, Tea, Hot chocolate, Dark Chocolate were sold as well.   Profits from this sale will go to Sustainable Harvest International to continue our South Church connection and support with the village of Boom Creek, Belize. 

 

South Church through Green Sanctuary has provided support since 2008 to SHI.  We welcomed a Jr. Youth  wo  participated helpfully with us during the Fair.
