Each year, a group of adults or youth in our congregation participates in a service and learning trip. These are wonderful opportunities to build lasting relationships with other members of South Church and do good work in the world.
A recent group travelled to a small village in Belize in collaboration with Sustainable Harvest, International. There, youth and chaperones helped plant sustainable income crops with local farmers, and helped to build inexpensive indoor stoves to protect residents from the toxic effects of smoke and fumes.
Groups of adults and youth have also traveled to McDowell County, West Virginia to help with projects ranging from construction to tutoring.
In June 2016, our senior youth group will return to West Virginia. Please contact Director of Religious Education Kirsten Hunter for information about ways to help out.
