The Board of Trustees gratefully accepts the report of the Strategic Planning Committee. Under the leadership of Eric Lipsitt and Amy Criswell, this group of dedicated leaders worked hard for more than a year to produce this report. We have read it, and now we feel ready to take the next step in working towards our future as a congregation. A long-range strategic planning process is a complex, multi-step process involving increasing levels of engagement and consensus. This reports provides an assessment of where we are today and some ideas about how to go forward.
So, what is the next step? Your Board of Trustees cordially invites you to a "Searching For The Future" workshop. Every member of the congregation will be asked to sign up for a 3 hour session some time on Saturday September 20th. These sessions will be led by trained faciltators from the congregation who will help us to develop consensus on the big picture of what South Church could look like 5 years from now, and what steps we would need to take to bring that vision to reality. We will talk together in small groups about where we want to go and what kind of church we will be. Then we will identify action items for moving us toward that vision. More information will be available soon.
In the meantime, peruse this report which tells us a great deal about who we are and where we are today.
Julie Draper
on behalf of your Board of Trustees
