Pocket Gardens of Portsmouth Garden Tour
The 19th annual South Church Pocket Garden Tour will be held on Friday June 20 from 5PM to 8PM and Saturday June 21 from 9AM to 3PM. This year's tour welcomes the sponsorship of Accent Magazine. It is a self-guided tour that winds around the antique homes and true pocket gardens of Portsmouth.
We will be returning to the South End, one of the first areas settled in New Hampshire in the early 1600s, originally known as Strawbery Banke. The 2-mile walking or biking tour includes 9 private gardens, and the colonial revival garden at the Thomas Bailey Aldrich House, which is celebrating its 100th year as the Thomas Bailey Aldrich Memorial Museum.
Held rain or shine, the self-guided tour benefits South Church and its work in the larger community. It features artists, musicians and refreshments in selected gardens on both days of the tour. This year we are featuring an expanded plant sale to include local nurseries as well as exotic plants from The Flower Company of Kittery, ME. The sale will run both days of the tour in front of South Church, 292 State Street.
Tickets go on sale mid-May and are $17 in advance and $20 the days of the Tour. A group price of $75 for 5 will be offered anytime and can be purchased from South Church and other locations, please call us Tuesday-Thursday 9-4 @ 603.436.4762.
For more specific information, please call Roddy Cole @ 603.433.8525.
