At South Church we encourage each other to enrich our lives by connecting in a variety of different ways. Here are some of the ongoing programs and activities available to our adult members. Most are open to non-member, visitors as well.
The Aging with Grace group is a participatory group for men and women to explore our joys and concerns in the aging process. A safe environment where we laugh and celebrate as well as share topics of concern. This group meets on the second Thursday of each month at 10:00am in the Milk Room.
Buddha’s Belly meditation and book groups. This group meets at two separate times each month. the first is every 1st Wednesday at 10:00am in the sanctuary the second time is the 4th Wednesday at 6:30pm in The King Classroom.
Chant From Different Traditions meets the first Sunday of every month at 10:15am between services. We explore chants and mantras from different traditions at the back balcony. All are welcome.
Communion Circle meets on periodic Sunday’s in the sanctuary see the church calendar for upcoming dates. All are welcome.
Drop in Small Groups meet between services, 10:10 to 10:50am, on the 2nd Sunday of each month. Drop-In groups are an opportunity to get to know others, and nourish your spiritual growth. Come once, or come each month. All are welcome. The group meets with a trained convenor and follows the session format used by the small groups that meet regularly from October through May. Sessions are confidential. All are welcome.
The Knitting Ministry meets on third Sundays at 10:15am in the Emerson Sitting Room from September through May. Knitters of all abilities are invited to join us.
The Men’s Breakfast Group meets at The Roundabout Diner at the Portsmouth traffic circle, every second Thursday from 7:15am to about 9:00am.
Vespers is a contemplative mid-week service held every Thursday at 6:00pm in the Sanctuary.
The South Church Spiritual Book Group hosts drop-in book discussions in the Emerson Sitting Room on the second Wednesday of the month at 7:00pm.
